I would say that I am mad after long distance driving. Spurred by the cooperation of my family members, I have been travelling quite a lot by my car Santro. Our children have been trained well to get up early in the morning for long distance travelling. My wife who prepares delicious north indian and south indian dishes, is always ready well-prepared for the onslaught.
The first ever visit was sometime in 1997 when we travelled by Maruti Omni. We visited the following places: Kone Water Falls, Surutupalli and Thamaraipakkam. We went to these places as a fairly large group and the members were excited when they saw the two places, Surutupalli and Thamaraipakkam.
You can approach Surutupalli from Chennai that takes you to Tirupathi via Uthukottai. Or you can drive from Thiruvalluvar to Surutupalli. Alternatively, while returning from Tirupathi you can drive from Puthur to Uthukottai and reach Surutupalli.
This is one among the very few temples where you will find Lord Shiva in human form. The Lord is in a reclining posture like Lord Ananthapadmanabha, with His head rested on Goddess Parvathi's lap. It will be difficult for you to take your eyes off His face...what a great sight! You must not miss visiting this temple.
